Nothing should come between you and your music… and we mean NOTHING !!

Best Active Noise Cancellation Wireless Earphones Headphones Over Ear India

If there’s one thing that we can agree on, sadly, it’s that true silence in this day and age is a rare and extremely precious commodity. With all the hustle, bustle and the absolute chaos found in every nook and cranny of the world, it’s just not possible to take a breather and let go of your stress without someone screeching near your face. It simply isn’t!

Well, maybe not by yourself, but what if we said you were allowed assistance?… Say the Best Active Noise Cancelling Headphones to your rescue… ?

You see, the awesome technology that is Active Noise Cancellation has allowed companies to create the best type of headsets for your ears. The type that, once you put them on, make sure you don’t get to hear the loudest of explosions happening outside. And the ones we got here don’t just do a fantastic job of it, they’re wireless too.

Passive Noise Cancellation is lesser technology and more to do with technique. Here, headset makers design their products, usually earphones, such that the ear canal is completely blocked from the outside world. This snug fit causes a marginal decrease in ambient sound and hence the name passive.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), on the other hand, actually has a piece of tech in it to decrease the ambient noise around the user. In addition to the ergonomic, snug fit, the ANC tech senses the common average frequency of outside sounds and produces its own wave that nullifies this sound. Pretty neat, huh?

The Quiet Comfort 35 from Bose touts itself as world-class when it comes to noise cancellation. A tall claim, but it backs this up with a lot of impressive performance.

The design is pretty standard, and it has the trademark elliptical earmuffs. The design itself suggests that it’s very comfy to wear and yes, it fits the ear very snugly. The interior of the muffs is also very comfortable but can get very irksome when sweaty. On the other hand, the exterior feels befittingly premium and durable.

The audio itself is pretty good, as expected for a Bose product. The sound profile is very well balanced and any genre of music is a joy to listen to. However, it gets slightly distorted at high volumes. The bluetooth setting and signal strength are pretty good, but the high latency is a bit of a problem. Also, the noise cancellation works wonderfully no matter how low the audio is, it works like a charm. But audio leakage, on the other hand, is a different matter. It is very noticeable the louder you get, so perhaps listen to it in a more isolated setting.

What we Like
  • Fantastic ANC, works just as advertised
  • Among the most balance audio profiles in wireless headphones
  • Backed by Bose's impressive reputation in Audio segment
What we don't Like
  • A tad pricey for most folks

The Sennheiser has a few distinct advantages over the rest of the pack. One, it is at a significantly lower price point than its competitors, like Bose. Two, its bluetooth tech works much better than with other noise cancelling wireless headset. But, can it hold its own where it really counts?

The design of the Sennheiser HD 4.50 is very similar to the others, with the elliptical casing geared towards noise cancellation. The materials don’t feel as premium but are still quite durable. The muffs do much better and feel a little more rigid. Go for it if that’s your thing.

The audio profile is not bad, but is outperformed by Bose in this regard. Bluetooth is, as mentioned, much stronger and the latency is very low. But the defining feature, the ANC is absolutely top-notch. It is very adept and completely cancels out sounds even in chaotic, very noisy environments. No complaints at all from this user.

What we Like
  • Bluetooth tech is implemented the best here
  • ANC is very subtle but effective nonetheless
  • Affordable ANC complaint headphones
What we don't Like
  • Customer service could be more helpful

To separate the better from the best, we spent hours researching and reviewing all available noise cancelling wireless headphones with 4 star and above with significant number of reviews among the best sellers.  We compared their features and read hundreds of reviews on amazon, flipkart, from other reputed publications and from the verified buyers themselves to narrow our list down to the best noise cancelling headphones in India among the top ones worthy of your consideration.
In case you are looking for more sound solutions, we have some recommendations for your reading:

Comfort and Fit – How do the headphones feel? Can you wear them for marathon music sessions while at work or during travel ? Does it feel too heavy? Are the materials it’s made of irritating or itchy? Do the headphones fit properly without need to keep adjusting them? Is it adjustable to accommodate both large and smaller-shaped heads?

Sound and Call Quality – Is the sound rich and detailed to help you enjoy the music? Is the sound quality clear while taking a call ? Are certain sections of music overpowering others or is there a good balance ? Are both sides of the headphones balanced when it comes to sound ?

Battery Performance – How long does the battery last for regular usage ? How does it it last while used continuously listening to music ? How quickly does it charge ? Does the battery performance degrade over time ?

Build Quality and Design – How does the headphones look? Does it feel cheap? Does it have a premium look , sturdy build that can withstand drops? Are the earbuds durable? Is the cable long enough ? Is the cable durable enough to withstand wear/ tangle over time?

Wireless Connectivity – Does the phone pair easily with the headphones ? How far is the connectivity ? Is there a break during phone notifications ? Does it re-pair quickly ?

Noise cancellation – Does it support ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) technology ? How effective is the headphone in cancelling out noise ? Is there a neutral white noise in the background ? Does the noise cancellation distort the music or sound quality ?

Brand Reliability and Warranty – are also important. We shy away from very new or unknown brands that have no customer support because if anything goes wrong, you have nobody to contact for assistance.

In addition to the above testing criteria, we also factored in price to find the best active noise cancelling headphones with value for money rather than just going for the cheapest one.

JBL 650 – The JBL 650 is a beast of a headset, and it is definitely punching the most above its weight among all the products here. It has a more conventional over-ear design, and the materials do not feel as premium, which is to be expected as it is significantly cheaper. The sound profile is not bad but a little too bass-heavy, up to where it feels distorted. The ANC is also decent, but a little ineffective against high-pitched sounds. Most impressive, however, is the battery life: 20 hrs with ANC on for just 2hr charge! This, and the multi-device connectivity, make it a definite go-to. . AMAZON | FLIPKART

SONY WH – Oh, this is a tough one. This is a very clear premium offering from Sony: the materials, the tech, everything. That also makes this very expensive. he DAC is fantastic and lends to the beautiful soundscape; it’s among the best here. The ANC on the other hand, is pretty good at best, doesn’t really cancel much beyond semi-loud noises, like high volume conversation. The only drawback, though, are the controls: they are entirely touch-based, take some time to master and require a lot of precision. So, consider everything before deciding to make a purchase.
